Operational Manager (L5)
This is a higher level management apprenticeship that is equivalent to a foundation degree. An operations/departmental manager is someone who manages teams and/or projects, and achieving operational or departmental goals and objectives, as part of the delivery of the organisations strategy. They are accountable to a more senior manager or business owner. Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities and job titles will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same. Key responsibilities may include creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, leading and managing teams, managing change, financial and resource management, talent management, coaching and mentoring. Roles may include: Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Divisional Manager, Department Manager and specialist managers.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
To anyone who works or wanting to work in a role as an operations and/or departmental manager. You can be a current staff member wanting to enhance your skills by gaining an accredited qualification through completion of this apprenticeship. You can also be an individual who would like to work as a operations and/or departmental manager and willing to enrol onto one of our apprenticeship programmes.

The Operations/Departmental Manager Apprenticeship lasts 18 months in total. There is further detail about what is taught throughout this duration on pages 4 & 5. Below is a delivery timeline of how the Operations/Departmental Manager apprenticeship will be delivered:
PAYMENTS AND INCENTIVES
There are additional benefits for employers who invest in training young people who are between 16 and 18:
An employer who recruits or up skills a staff member is eligible to a £1000 incentive with £500 payable after 6 months and at achievement. The staff member would need to be between 16-18 years of age.
If you have less than 50 employees there is no requirement to contribute 5% for 16 to 18 year olds only. (still applies to 19+)
If the person is 19 or over a 5% contribution would be required which is £350. The £350 can be paid over 10 monthly payments if desired. This would be at a cost of £35 a month for 10 months.
However, if the organisation has a national wage bill of over £3 million, then you would be a levy paying customer and training would be 100% funded. More information regarding Levy can be found here.
