The stage was set for Mr. Olympia 2017 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas Nevada for another winning year for ‘The Gift’ Phil Heath.
It came close and there was defiantly some tension on the stage as Phil Heath and ‘Big Ramy’ Mamdouh Elssbiay stood waiting in anticipation for the final result of the 2017 Mr. Olympia contest.
For the whole posing routines, they were always stood very close to each other and must of sensed it was between the two of them to be crowned the king of bodybuilding.
Phil Heath as we know was looking to win his 7th Mr. Olympia title in a row and it was Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson who announced what Phil wanted hear and he was announced Mr. Olympia for the 7th time.
Phil Heath has now equalled Arnold Schwarzenegger’s record and will now be looking to equal Ronnie Coleman and Lee Haney’s 8 Mr. Olympia’s.
Phil Heath looked emotionally drained after the result but managed to congratulate Big Ramy for his runner up position and hugged him. The prize money for Phil Heath was $400,000 which was accompanied with the Eugene Sandow Trophy which the winner receives.
Phil Heath then addressed the crowd once ‘Big Ramy’ had left the stage and went on to explain his winning was just a product from hard work and a dedication to the gym. He told the crowd he was always in the gym on good days and bad days and that’s how he found his way in the sport.
The runner up Elssbiay won $150,000 then William Bonac came 3rd to win $100,000 and then 4th place went to Dexter Jackson who picked up $55,000 for his efforts.
Big Ramy will be hungrier than ever now for next years competition so it will be interesting to se if Phil can go level with Ronnie and Lee and make history.
