Each week Velocity PT Academy releases a workout challenge that will test your body to really see how fit and overall athletic you are! These challenges are split up into 2 different levels as not everyone is at the same fitness level. And these are intermediate and advanced! Each week you can challenge yourself to this prewritten workout that will attack your body and take it to places it may have never been before. But remember! If you want the full benefit out of these challenges you need to be putting in 100% maximum effort! So if your workouts are getting boring then why not mix it up a little with these challenges. This week’s challenge is called the Bodyweight Challenge. This challenge does not require any equipment and is going to be an intense and sweaty workout. The main aspect of this workout is to see if you are fit and athletic enough to deal with your own bodyweight. This week is the Velocity Cleveland Challenge. Why is it called the Cleveland challenge? Because it is inspired by LeBron James’s move back to his hometown team Cleveland from Miami. This is an adaptation of the off-season workout that LeBron has been following to maintain his fitness levels and low body fat levels. This week is the Velocity Lower Body Marathon Challenge. This is not like what you would think a marathon is! This is resistance based. We don’t want to know about how far you can run for hours on end. We want to know how conditioned your body is! This is a grueling challenge that literally tests you until failure. And if it doesn’t then your not doing it right! This will be a sheer test of your lower body conditioning so give it a try and see if you can reach 35 reps on each exercise. Read More

This week is the Velocity FST-7 Challenge. And this weeks focus is going to be on our lower body. The FST-7 training system FST (Fascial Stretch Training) -7, is a training system developed by Hany Rambod and used on his clients, targets the fascial layer directly beneath the skin and above the muscles with seven sets performed for a final exercise. This training system is usually used in term of hypertrophy training (muscle building) but however will also improve muscular strength also if you have hit a plateau in your training. Users of this system include 4 x Mr Olympia Phil Heath. This weeks challenge will only have 1 level however if you are a relatively newcomer to weight training then just ensure that you use lighter weight. Read More

This week’s challenge is based on Tabata! Tabata is a popular type of interval training named after Japanese professor Izumi Tabata who co-authored a 1996 study that found intense four-minute workouts done five days a week for six weeks improved your VO2 max (maximal oxygen consumption) and anaerobic energy supply system. Tabata is based upon short bursts of maximal intensity with short rest periods. It also supports excess post exercise oxygen consumption so you’re continuously burning more calories after your workout! So give it a try! There is only 1 intensity this week so try your best!
